BEST DIVING PLACES IN AUSTRALIA

Today, more and more people prefer to relax actively, rather than contemplatively. And the leader in this sense is sea recreation with scuba diving or diving. Every year, millions of tourists travel around the world in search of the most attractive places for this hobby. There are many of them on our planet, but one of them the most popular is Australia. For lovers of scuba diving there is where to turn around: picturesque lagoons with clear blue water, amazingly beautiful straits, but the most important thing is the Great Barrier Reef. Among divers, diving here is akin to conquering the Himalayas. However, far from all the islands of the Great Reef are open to widespread visits.

However, those available to divers deserve only the most excellent features. At the same time, Australia has a dozen more convenient and attractive places for diving. For example, in South Australia these are the Kangaroo islands, around which at the bottom there is a real cemetery of sunken ships. In the West – the islands of Carnarvon, Esperance and Rottnest, as well as Albany, in New South Wales – Eden, on the island of Victoria – Warrnambool. But still, let us return to the Great Barrier Reef, which is visible even from outer space and which is already more than 500 thousand years old.

For sea bathing and diving, the climate itself is favorable here. In transitional periods, the air temperature here averages + 27-28 degrees Celsius, + 25 degrees Celsius in winter, and in summer it does not exceed + 30 degrees. More than comfortable and the water temperature is from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, in winter and summer, respectively. At the same time, water in the Great Barrier Reef area is very transparent, in some places visibility reaches 30 meters. This allows us to make out in great detail the inhabitants of the underwater world, which are about 16 thousand species from corals and sponges to mollusks and fish. Here you have a lion fish, and green turtles, and a stingray tail, and neon fish, and, of course, sharks, including white ones.

The ideal diving season in these places begins in May, and lasts until November. This is due to the fact that in October a lot of jellyfish appear in the waters near Cairns, many of which are deadly. However, on some islands of the Barrier Reef itself, this threat is minimal, as jellyfish usually do not swim there. Some of the most popular places for divers are the islands of Lizard, Fitzroy and Green, as well as the Mor Reef, Ribbon Reef and Code Hall. Lizard Island deserves special attention, where in addition to scuba diving, you can feed giant fish and more. Entire colonies of red perch, moray eel (large), and salmon live here. The fact is that this island is located near Code Hall with its splendor of the underwater world. These places have long been chosen by lovers of underwater photo and video shooting.

You should not miss the opportunity to visit the island of Girona, which is located in the very center of the Barrier Reef and is the National Australian Reserves. This is the most favorite place for diving fans, including for night dives. The exclusivity of this island lies in the fact that there is a narrow isthmus between it and the reef, along which you can walk directly to the Great Barrier Reef.

Heron Island is an ideal place for beginners, as well as for those who are wary of diving, but want to get to know the underwater world. Since this island is the only one in all of Australia, which is located directly on the Great Barrier Reef, a unique underwater room was created here, the walls of which are made of durable glass. Being in this room, you can watch for hours without diving for fascinating underwater life on the greatest miraculous structure of our planet, the Great Barrier Reef.
